Zoover is the largest hotel and travel rating portal in the Netherlands. With 3.8 million ratings, 400,000 hotels and campsites as well as 900,000 travel tips, the Zoover platform makes finding and booking the perfect holiday a cinch. Zoover was recently acquired by promising Dutch travel start-up vakanties.nl. Together the two brands will go all-in on the Dutch and Belgium travel market. In our Rotterdam office, around 35 colleagues all work together to achieve our goal by providing inspiring content through our website, blog and other platforms, by developing a user friendly website, apps for tablet and mobile, and offering a varied assortment of accommodations, reviews and customer service. As a high-traffic, travel website, we’re looking for a Backend Developer with the main focus on developing new and high performing back-end services. Our in-house development team recently finished building a new application platform from scratch on the google cloud platform, using Python and Node.js as primary tools for improving the product experience for our multi-million audience. You will be part of a solid and efficient development team to drive product and platform innovation. We have a strong need for technical cleverness to build our roadmap and ensuring improvements for consumers, but also moving towards a Microservices architecture with domain driven design. We are open for new technologies, encourage collaborative decisions and are pushing for multi-disciplinary scrum teams caring about the products we ship. Your tasks/responsibilities: • Implement new features and components in our Node.js and Python based backend; • Consistently care for very good test coverage and automation; • Plan and execute mid-sized projects independently; • Drive continuous evolution of our backend architecture together with the team; • Help design RESTful APIs that provide outstanding Developer Experience; • Drive continuous improvement on manageability using Google Cloud Platform services Your background and skills: • Energetic and goal oriented; • At least 2 years of full-time back-end development experience, preferably in e-commerce • 2 years experience working with Node.js and/or Python; • Experience with multiple of: ElasticSearch, Google App Engine, Redis, Microservices architecture, Docker, Cloud build, Terraform, SQL • Nice to have some experience with React and graphSQL • Experience in the online travel industry is a plusOur environment: • Technical challenges and inspiring ambitions • A company in a “growth” phase; Lot’s of impact to make on our platform • Very personal environment (around 35FTEs), big brand and very committed investors • Working within an international top team • Good training opportunities • Opportunities to attend/organize tech events • A lot of freedom which comes with your responsibility • Office located at the Rotterdam city centre hotspot, Witte de Withstraat Benefits: • Market competitive salary package • flexibility in working hours and duration • Unlimited holidays • Pension premium • Macbook or Windows laptop and mobile phone compensation • Public transport card when living outside Rotterdam Please note, we only consider applicants currently living in the Netherlands.
