Hiking on the Coast of DeathRapporteren
Although hazardous to numerous sailors over the centuries, the Coast of Death (Costa da Morte, Costa de la Muerte) in Galicia is a wonderful place for hikers. The coast is a thrilling mix of white sandy beaches, headlands, wetlands and fishing villages. You can walk round beautiful capes like Cabo de Corcubión, Cabo de Laxe, Cabo de San Adrián and Cabo de Muxia. As the Cape of the Edge of the Earth (Cabo Finisterre) is the end point of the pilgrim route, it is a popular tourist attraction with its lighthouse, statues and rock formations, but the walk itself is not so spectacular. Many hiking routes go from one fishing village to another. One of the most charming takes you from Camelle to Laxe. Main part of this route runs on cliffs, but you go also through beaches and wetlands with bird-watching cottages.
