GREAT PRICE GREAT PLACEanna rentz,24-1-2011
We lodged at Hotel Fenix for seven days and experienced great service, clean rooms, and a decent little cafe on the first floor. The other hotels will charge over 100 bucks per night and yet Hotel Fenix was 45 bucks per night. The rooms were modern and the hotel felt very secure. Forget Best Western...stay at Hotel Fenix and use your extra funds to ride the Chepe. Oh, they also let us bring our dog in the room at no extra charge.

Excellent Hotel, Two FlawsJonathan,25-6-2009
We loved the Granada, particularly the shared access to the other El Cid properties across the street. Rooms were huge and spotless, staff was exceptional. The flaws: You are assaulted by Timeshare Salespeople wandering the lobby. When we checked in our room "wasn't ready." We were told to have a seat in the lobby. We did, and were approached by a salesperson. We left the lobby and came back later. At that time the Bellman told us our room was ready, only to be stared down by another Timeshare Salesperson who "corrected" him. We were then offered an upgraded room which was ready immediately, which we could have at no charge if we attended a presentation. When it was obvious we would again refuse, our room instantly became available. My wife also had her cell phone stolen from the room, but we should know not to leave it laying out.

This was our first resort vacation, and we loved it. Beautiful grounds, wonderful people, excellent restaurant, fantastic beach. We took the shuttle into town for two nights, too, and loved that. We walked around a few other resorts, including the El Cid's and other Pueblo Bonita, and found Emerald Bay much nicer than any of them. I would highly recommend it, but probably not for a honeymoon. It was rather family oriented, though it was fine for us young newlyweds, too. They had activities throughout the day, but i chose to stay most of the day at the beach. Pools were rather crowded, but not overly so.
