Dit dorpje is vooral beroemd vanwege het indrukwekkende\u00a0Benedictijnse kloostercomplex dat hier al een jaartje of duizend staat. Intussen zijn er allerlei musea, winkels, restaurants bij gekomen en is het stadje uitgegroeid tot een relaxte vakantiebestemming. Anders dan de niet erg po\u00ebtische naam doet vermoeden, is Gm\u00fcnd een schilderachtig historisch stadje. Een\u00a0kasteel, kronkelige straatjes, een oude stadsmuur en ligging aan een prachtig bergmeer: Gm\u00fcnd heeft het allemaal. Voor de reis hoef je geen uren uit te trekken: je bent er binnen een half uurtje. Wel zo handig, want zo heb je extra veel tijd voor wandelingen in de groene heuvels rondom het dorpje. Hier draait alles om \u00e9\u00e9n ding: het heerlijke bergmeer! In de zomer wordt het water van de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoover.nl\/oostenrijk\/karinthie\/faak-am-see\/faaker-see\">Faaker See<\/a> verrassend warm en rondom het meer vind je allerlei gezellige eettentjes en terrasjes.
