Je komt met je gezin aan in Rome<\/a><\/span> en een taxi brengt jullie naar je accommodatie. Je hebt alleen geen idee w\u00e1\u00e1r die accommodatie precies is en dus ook niet of de chauffeur wel de kortste route neemt. Een taxichauffeur heeft snel genoeg in de gaten of jij bekend bent in de stad of niet. Zo niet, dan cruist<\/em> hij via een grote omweg naar de plaats van bestemming en laat jou vervolgens achter met een fikse ritprijs. Zelf zet ik altijd Google Maps op mijn telefoon aan om te zien of de chauffeur ‘de kortste route’ volgt.<\/p>\n

Oplichting: taxichauffeur die toeristische route kiest<\/h2>\n

In een land waar je de taal niet machtig bent, is het al lastig genoeg om duidelijk te maken waar je naartoe wilt. Je hebt vooraf wat onderzoek gedaan naar de kortste route. In je beste Spaans<\/a><\/span> leg je uit dat je via La Sagrada Familia<\/a><\/span> naar het strand van Barceloneta wilt. \u2018Ik weet wel een kortere weg\u2019, zegt de taxichauffeur. Trap er niet in, want voordat je het weet, blijkt de kortere weg een ontzettende omweg. Die supervriendelijke taxichauffeur laat je onderweg allerlei bezienswaardigheden zien waar je niet om gevraagd hebt. En aan het eind van de rit betaal jij de hoofdprijs.<\/p>\n

Kapotte taximeter<\/h2>\n

Tijdens je weekendje weg<\/a><\/span>\u00a0wil je nog weleens de taxi pakken als je een grote stad als\u00a0Istanbul<\/span> bezoekt. In Turkije<\/a><\/span> kun je zonder problemen gebruik maken van de taxi\u2019s. Maar er is altijd wel een taxichauffeur die even makkelijk geld wil verdienen door je op te lichten. Taxichauffeurs gebruiken veelal de truc, dat ze een kapotte taximeter hebben. Zodra je bij je eindbestemming arriveert, moet je een belachelijk hoge prijs betalen voor de rit. Zonde van het geld! Stap daarom alleen in een taxi die met een taximeter rijdt. En is deze kapot, spreek dan een vaste prijs af v\u00f3\u00f3r je de taxi instapt.\u00a0Of ga op zoek naar een taxi waarvan de meter werkt.<\/p>\n

Wisseltruc met briefgeld<\/h2>\n

Of je nu in Itali\u00eb<\/a><\/span> of Griekenland<\/a><\/span> een taxi instapt, je\u00a0loopt altijd het risico om opgelicht te worden. Betaal je taxirit bij voorkeur met pinpas of creditcard. Kan dit niet, zorg er dan\u00a0<\/span>voor dat je voldoende kleingeld op zak hebt. Bij groot geld proberen taxichauffeurs namelijk vaak een wisseltruc toe te passen. Ze zeggen dat je met ander briefgeld betaald hebt, dan dat je daadwerkelijk gedaan hebt. Je geeft bij een taxirit van bijvoorbeeld veertien euro een briefje van vijftig euro. De taxichauffeur geeft jou vervolgens zes euro wisselgeld. Op het moment dat jij om de resterende dertig euro vraagt, zegt hij dat je met een briefje van twintig hebt betaald. En bewijs dan maar eens dat jij een briefje van vijftig gegeven hebt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
