vermijd florence- de trein was waardeloos. zowieso duurt het een half uur voordat je bij het station bent, dan nog parkeren.treinrit is 45 min. kaartje voor 2 volwassenen (kinderen waren gratis) was 18.60 euro in totaal. lijkt mij dat parkeren in florence goedkoper is. Bovendien is Florence zo ontzettend druk - het is file-lopen van bezienswaardigheid naar bezienswaardigheid, zelfs in het voorseizoen (op een normale maandag)

Vergeet naast San Gimignano ook Certaldo Alto niet te bezoeken! Lekker lunchen in de tuinen van Il Castello alwaar schildpadjes loslopen. Leuk voor de kinderen en relaxed voor de ouders (open tussen 13.00 en 14.30 uur, gesloten op dinsdag)

Onze reisorganisatie beveelt dit park aan voor jongere kinderen (tot 11 jaar). Onze zoon van 14 heeft het hier echter ook enorm naar zijn zin gehad. Als je niet op zoek bent naar disco e.d., maar met je tieners leuke steden in Toscane wilt bezoeken en daarna wilt relaxen aan het zwembad of nog wat energie kwijt wil op de tennisbaan of al paardrijdend bij de manege, dan is het hier prima vertoeven. Via de receptie kun je ook nog kookworkshops van bijv. een dag in de regio regelen!

Naast het park ligt een kleine manege, gerund door Engelsen. Je kunt hier prima een dagtocht boeken, maar ook gewoon een rondrit per pony. Onze dochter (8) heeft tweemaal een buitenrit van ca. 1 uur gemaakt (ad € 16) , een keer met een ander meisje en een keer alleen, beide keren begeleid door de Engelse Sharon. Ze moest wel eerst even proefrijden om te laten zien of het goed genoeg kon, maar dat ging prima. Sharon had een cap voor haar en ze hoefde geen laarzen aan, maar goede schoenen.

Belmonte Vacanze has a good location if you like visiting main towns in Tuscany.You can easily reach by car towns like San Gimignano,Volterra,Pisa,Lucca,Firenze,Siena,Cecina(just to mention the most popular.) in less than 1 hour by car.
If you get to Florence think about going by train thanks to the close train station in Castelfiorentino (18 km far from Belmonte).In this way you will get to the centre of Florence for just 3,70 euro per ticket and you will not have stress for parking and traffic

500 m far from Belmonte there are two good Tuscan restaurants. They are inside the small pictouresque village of Iano. You can get to Iano and the restaurants on walk.Otherwise you can always get to Iano with the car since above the village there is a wide parking area.
Both cook typical Tuscan disches like bistecca fiorentina, ribollita or tomatoes soup, tuscan starter disches.....and the price is cheap.In Antico borgo restaurant is available also pizza with the possibility to take away.

If you want in the morning you can have a delivery of shop and goods for your breakfast directly at your apartment.
Have a ticket at the reception, fill in with your order (bread,milk,cofee,fruit juice,croissant with chocolate or marmlade,biscuits,ham,cheese,salads,pasta......), write down the number of your flat and leave it inside the wooden box before 6 p.m.
The day after at 8.30 am. the minimarket man will leave your shop in front of your flat and you can pay him directly.

I suggest you to try an exciting riding trail with Sharon and her team. There are a lot of tracks to discover in the surroundings of Belmonte with historical and natural sites to discover like Vignale castle, San Vivaldo monastery, Parco Benestare natural springs...
