In June we spent 2 days at Bobby Shafto Caravan Park. On the evening of 21st June, a loose dog approached our Yorkshire terrier which was on a lead. After a few seconds, our dog became distressed and the larger, uncontrolled dog responded by attacking it.
A subsequent vet’s visit identified a puncture wound, and a bill of £57. The dogs owners have not paid – their last text contained the phrase ‘Are you taking the p**s!’ We hold out no hope of an acceptance of responsibility or reimbursement.
We emailed Bobby Shafto on 25th June to advise them of this incident as their rules state all dogs must be on a lead at all times. We have received no response. The impression we have is that loose dogs attacking other dogs is an irrelevance best treated by ignoring the fact and hoping it will go away.
We hope Bobby Shafto have alerted their public liability insurer to this incident so they can be adequately risk assessed if a loose dog attacks a child in the future.
